WE HAD TWO GREAT LESSONS THIS WEEK (THE ROPE AND GETTING OVER THE HIGH BAR). WITHIN EACH THERE WERE SOME REALLY POSITIVE THINGS THAT TOOK PLACE AND THERE WERE SOME NEGATIVE SITUATIONS THAT TOOK PLACE AS WELL. WE ALSO HAD A GREAT DISCUSSION ABOUT IT TODAY.
TELL US AT LEAST ONE THING YOU SAW OR FELT THIS WEEK THAT YOU LIKED AND WANT TO BECOME PART OF OUR GROUP NORM AND ONE THING YOU SAW OR FELT THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE US WORK ON CHANGING.
REMEMBER TO SIGN THE POST SO I CAN GIVE YOU A GRADE.
I felt like overall everyone did really well and that we managed through teamwork and cooperation to accomplish all our goals and feel successful at the end. That being said, I feel as if every-ones roles are a little ambiguous and not everyone knew where they should have been to best help. I know that during the clean up of the high bar I was able to help but during the construction I had issues trying to figure out where I should have been. Perhaps some sort-of organizational system or at least a clear distinction between clean-up and tear-down or something so everyone gets an opportunity to help!
ReplyDeleteI think we had an awesome week. I think the way we all got over the high bar and the amount of people who were concerned about the safety of others was great to see. It was also good to see how we could accomplish the rope activity and still have alot of fun. it was also cool how much you all supported Tianna and accepted her apology.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see everyone celebrating each person's accomplishments instead of not paying attention until it is their turn and then paying attention to themselves. This class is so awesome that we have alot of people who will then cheer for the people who did not even pay attention when they went over.
GREAT WEEK AND I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS ON MONDAY.
MR. D.
Last week I feel that we exeled as a group we let Tianna back in after she appologized,we are starting to talk more in the discussions. Its just super cool seeing how much a group of kids can change and start coming togeather in a matter of about 3 weeks. The only bad thing I have to say is that we have to stay locked in. Like when people were going over the high bar of even just setting up for it there were people trying to become olympic gymnastics champions guys were having thier own personal wrestling matches and things like that, and I feel that is something we need to work on. other than that it was a SUPER good week can't wait for tomorrow. :]
ReplyDeleteFrom the days I was in class, I thought the group did an amazing job supporting each other. During the rope excercise, there were minor communication issues and frustrations surfacing, but the group as a whole did a wonderful job trying to coach every individual over the rope. I also did not see anyone get angry at each other for hitting the rope and having to start over, which was amazing. I think you all are very lucky to be surrounded by such an amazing group of peers, and I cannot wait to see where the year takes each and every one of you. Like Mr. D said - pay attention to all your classmates' accomplishments, encourage those around you, and include EVERYONE in the class (even if you have not spoken one word to them yet). Try to carry that respect and encouragement into History and English as well :) ~Ms. O'D
ReplyDeleteWhen we were given the challenge of getting over the high beam i thought nothing of it. Realy just getting over the beam? This should be easy. All we need to do get the pads and make a staircase. Well it wasnt as easy as it seamed. Ya some of my peers and i had the same idea and we were all ready to jump in and get started, but we all need to help out. We cant have some people doing all the work for everyone, we all need to work together. Some people were figuring out how to get over, and then others were messing around at the other side of the gym. Thats one thing we need to work on. We cant have a few people dooing all of the the the work so everyone can get an A. We need teem work. A team is only as strong as its weakest member. The one thing that i was proud about for the group was the rope jump. I remember doing this as a freshmen and it took a week. looking back at this memory i didnt think this year was going to be any better. But what we completed as a group went above and beyond my expectations. Great job class.

Last week was the highlight of it. the way our class worked together to get over the high bar and the patience we had with the rope. the high bar was probally the bonding moment for our class. there where some people who felt like they couldnt do it. our class though gave them moral support and helped them get through it. we need to make support a norm for our group. the thing that needs work on is gettin everyone to help particapat. over all we did great. Great job class.
ReplyDeleteSomething I really enjoyed was during this week was ninja and pasiing the ball.I also enjoyed getting over the rope and getting over the bar last week.I know some people in our group were miss communiticating and doing something else. Its not entirely there fault since its only beging of the year and not all feel comftrable with eachother. So in coclusion the people who did particapate and help on the bar was good of them and who those who didnt there will be a next time you will paticpate and help. So theres room for improvement next time.
ReplyDeleteIt's really awesome to see that so many of you enjoy the team mentality that you are starting to create. There is NOTHING more effective than a team working together towards a common goal! Like Ms. O'Donnell said, remember to take this with you everywhere. Support each other in PE, History, and English, and help each other out when you're not in class, too. I'm excited to watch you grow as a group and individuals throughout the year. Keep up the great work! :-)

Something I really enjoyed during these two lessons is knowing that we can all trust each other to complete tasks like getting over the high bar. Unfortunately not all people were participating so there is room for improvement for the next activity we do. Overall we did a good Job, but we need to work on getting everyone to participate and help out in the group.
ReplyDeleteSomthing I like knowing is that people in the group can trust eachother with a challenge and get it done fast. Somepeople did not help with it and only helped when they needed to get over the bar. But we still got the job done so that is all that matters to me.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that I really liked was the simple challanges and just seeing how everyone reactes to it. personally I think you can actually judge another by ther actions the most. Something that I didnt like how ever was probroble the disorganization at first. I mean it, I actual had to yell out loud to make people stop and get orgonized. In all however the job was done so I'm good.

One thing I like about our class is that everyone is encouraging. For example when Jessica was afraid to go over the bar everyone was being supportive and telling her it wasn't scary once you got it over with. No one made fdun of her for being scared. So I was guess people are comfortable being in our class. One thing I do not like about our class is that when it comes to doing things as a class not everyone has a say in what they want to do. For example, when we had to get over the bar in class about four kids were in charge of what we were going to do. There are more than four kids in our class so everyone should have an opinion not just four people.
ReplyDeleteThe thing I really liked about those two activities was how everyone encouraged others to go over either the rope or the bar. I have not talked to the majority of the people in the class, but still they cheered up and supported me a lot. Also, when we were setting up things for the bar activity, I liked how people went to get the mats and piled those up quickly. I felt a strong unity of the class. However, the thing i thought we could do better was that there were some people who did not pay attention to what was going on in the class. Once they got over the bar, they started to do things that was irrelevant to the class. So from next time I think we can fix it and everyone focuses on things that are happening in the class.
ReplyDeletethe one thing I really liked about in the group they truly encourage each others and people heard their opinion, trying to make the best decision for class. I really thank you for encourage me when we did bar activity. I'm really scared of height, but they kept cheered me and helped to success to do activity. This class giving self- confidence and make me more brave. I hope more people give their opinion and pay attention to them. But we still doing good job in class!
ReplyDeleteI liked how we encouraged and all came up with ideas. Our ideas helped fit together this stairway we could climb over. When we encouraged people to go over, it helped them overcome the challenge. I'd like to see more people helping out because some went running around after doing a little bit of work. It was a fun day!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very fun week and we all worked together to accomplish the goal. A few people took control and became leaders and helped people get over the bar/ over the rope. But there was some people that did not care and were not paying attention. I think it would ben much easyer if everyone was just paying attention and all worked together.
ReplyDeleteI think this week was great! I feel everyone got to know everyone. The rope was sucessful because we stepped out of our comfort zones and worked with others to get across the rope. Although we did a lot things well we did a few bad things as well. I think people tend to take advantage of our freedom and slack off or not focus on the task. We need to ALL wrok together more, we are a team and if were not a team we will never gain trust in each other. I think we should do more group activities but not with our usual group it should be with others and earning trust and respect from them. Other than that it's been great!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was very fun week. We used teamwork to achieve many tasks and people were encouraging each other. I think we worked together well and we were successful in the end. I think we should continue working together like that and improve on many things.
ReplyDeleteThis week was very interesting, some people did a lot of work building and working togetehr to get over the bar and the rope , while some were in the back (not naming names) goofing off and just not participatig , but at the end of the day everybody did come together as a team. All in all it was fun. :)
ReplyDeleteDuring Our Activities I Had A Lot Of Difficulties Getting Over The Rope. Giving Up Is Not A part Of Our Norm And I Like How Everybody Try To Encourage Me To Continue Trying Even Though I Didn’t Want To. I Also Like How The High Bar Activity Our Team Mates Cheer Us On To Move Forward When We Got Scared And Felt Like Everything Was Too Much. This Week Was Over All Great!
ReplyDeleteLast week was great! We did some pretty fun team building activities that built character in many people. It showed me who can step up and be a leader, and who will sit back and agree with what seems to work best. I feel like these past activities have given everyone the chance to become comfortable with each other and will allow them to come out of their comfort zone a little bit more as we move on and become leaders as well.
ReplyDeleteLast week we had done those challenges and I thought they went very well but we need to work on every one helping out with whats going on. I know that because I was one of the people who didn't help, but their was really nothing i could do to help besides cheering on every one if they where having trouble going over the bar. One thing I did notice was there where a lot of people who took charge and that showed who had very strong leadership skills.
ReplyDeleteThis week was great to start off with. We did alot of activityes and many people worked together and thats the most important part. Building stuff was fun and we all just have a good time and thats the most important thing about gym.
ReplyDeleteWe have been working together as a class better and better everyday. It seems to me that everyone who is in the class is having lots of fun and everyone is encouraging of someone else in whatever activity we have completed. As long as we keep working as a class how we are right now, it will be a great year.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of fun the past weeks and have motivated each to experience some of our fears and to become more open with the people around us which to me, I think that that's the most important thing that we have in our class the brave, out-going, and people who actually put an effort in being in the group as a whole because we all know there is no complete circle without everyone being in it which is what our circle does. We let people in and enjoy each others company and learn new life lessons at the same time. I can predict that this year is probably going to be in the one of the best years of our lives if we all just keep strong.
ReplyDeleteI feel that over the past couple of weeks we have accomplished our main goals with the rope and the high bar and I believe that as a team, we can accomplish many more challenges down the road. Every single one of us put in some amount of effort that kept our team going strong throughout these rigorous challenges placed in front of us. The main thing that I liked about these two weeks of these challenges is that we all accomplished the task, we all worked together and we keep setting the bar higher and higher each challenge.
ReplyDeleteThe last few activities have been very fun and they make me feel somewhat comfortable with the other people in our class. Even if I don't know most of the people in our class I feel a connection between me and the others due to how well we work as a group. So far I'm really excited with what we're doing and I can't wait to do a lot more of what we have been doing.

I think we are doing a great job with finding a way to acheive the obstacles, but the class is struggling on stepping up to be apart of whats going on, most people exclude themselves because it will keep attention off them or because they are afraid of being embarrassed, self confidence is the key and some people need to express themselves
ReplyDeleteOne thing that I saw and I want it to become the class norm is teamwork. The one think I think needs improvement is other people who were goofing of need to help the entire group like my hockey coach always say you are as strong as your weakest link.
ReplyDeleteThese activities we've been doing this week are fun and i think we all get throught them as a team and smoothly, at times, i feel we are progressing in the "teamwork" aspect of the class this should be a good year.
ReplyDelete-Marcellus Ward
The thing that i liked was most people in class tried to get everybody involved and not leave anybody left out. Then we could all put our thoughts together to try to accomplish the task without everybody doing their own thing. One thing that i think we need to work on is that we don't communicate well. When everybody gets into their own groups and goes and grabs everything,it might be helpful if we talked and decided who was doing what.
ReplyDelete- JOHN GUTERREZ
Over all we got the assigment done, it wasn't pretty but we got it done one thing i liked that is every one motivated each other to get over the high bar and across the rope it shows that we do care for one another, one thing i felt that we needed to work on was the leader ship, there was way to many people giving ideas and it was crazy and every one was talking but all in all it was not bad!!

I like how we dont leave anyne behind and if we fail we fail as a group and there is no fighting or anything of that type. We do have to work on listening to each other a lot more and we can't be goofing off as much. We have to take things a lot more seriously then we do. We cant be doing our own little thing we have to do things as a group. The times we have done that things work out perfectly and there is no faustration.
